#478 – HR45: Blair Holt’s Firearm Licensing and
Record of Sale Act of 2009

no cohost
(I regret to announce that this will be my last radio broadcast.  I hope to begin devoting my time to fighting for Liberty in a more direct way in the very near future.)

Blair Holt was a 16-year old honor student in Chicago who was murdered in May, 2007 when another teenager began firing a handgun on a public bus in a gang-related attack.  Acting heroically, Holt moved to shield a female rider from the bullets, and he was struck in the abdomen and died.  I think it’s a shame that such a heroic young man is being used as the namesake to such a terrible piece of anti-gun legislation.  HR45 amends the Brady Handgun Violence Prevention Act to prohibit a person from possessing a firearm unless that person has been issued a firearm license under this Act or a state system certified under this Act and such license has not been invalidated or revoked.  In other words, if it has a trigger, you’ve gotta get government permission to own it.

Today’s callers: Quince/Pennsylvania; Dave/Michigan; Dan/COLUMBIA; Paul/California; Jim/Florida; Steve/Ohio; Kay/California;
Carol Ann/Minnesota  (who has been my loyal program coordinator for 14 months)
(Many thanks to all my loyal listeners over the past two years!

#477 – How Does The Economy Affect You?

no cohost

Over the years I’ve heard many people suggest that most people do not get involved in politics until it affects them in their pocketbook.  With so many people getting involved in politics these days, I’d like to know how today’s economy affects you.

#476 – Illegal to Grow Your Own Food?

Cohost: August Dunning is the developer of Eco-Vie Plant Mineral Supplement that provides the nutrients necessary for healthy and more nutritious plants..  He is also a direct descendant of Benjamin Franklin, however he exhibits the “early adopter” qualities of Samuel Adams.

Congress will soon be considering H.R. 875 also known as the “Food Safety Modernization Act of 2009″ and H.R. 759, also known as “Food and Drug Administration Globalization Act of 2009″.  The stated purpose is to “protect the public health by preventing food-borne illness, ensuring the safety of food, improving research on contaminants leading to food-borne illness, and improving security of food from intentional contamination, and for other purposes“.  In layman’s terms, they are going to make it illegal to grow your own food.

#475 – Samuel Adams or Benjamin Franklin?

no cohost

Samuel Adams and Benjamin Franklin are among the most famous of our Founding Fathers.  Adams was encouraging separation from England long before the Declaration of Independence was written.  Franklin, on the other hand, was one of the last to admit that reconcilliation with the King was pointless.  Both are admired for their dedication even though they “came to the party” at significantly different periods of time.  Tonight’s question, are you an “early adopter” like Adams, or a “cautious, wait-and-see” like Franklin?

#473 – War to Prevent Southern Independence
(part 2)

Cohost: Timothy D. Manning, Sr. is currently the Executive Director of the North Carolina Heritage Foundation and is the manager of the Southern Patriot Shop in Cayce, South Carolina.  His biography is posted at Sons of Confederate Veterans.

I tell students in my Constitution class that most of what they think they know about the Constitution and our government is wrong!  It turns out that most of what you thought you knew about “the Civil War” is also wrong… beginning with the fact that it was not a civil war, but a war between two international countries!  We continue yesterday’s discussion beginning with the argument that “the civil war proves that states may not legally secede from the union”.  (Nonsense!)

Today’s callers: Daniel/COLUMBIA; Vince/Texas; Dave/Michigan; Bill/Ohio; Greg/South Dakota; Mette/Texas
(I’m beginning a listener drive this week and next.  Please ask your family, friends, and coworkers to tune in to this program each evening.
Reruns of previous programs will be broadcast on Thursday and Friday.)

#472 – War to Prevent Southern Independence
(part 1)

Cohost: Timothy D. Manning, Sr. and his son, Tim Jr., founded the Virginia Heritage Foundation to encourage the study of Virginia and Southern history, government and culture, and to restore its teaching as a separate and distinct course in Virginia high schools.  In 2002 he and his son, Chris, founded the North Carolina Heritage Foundation.  He is currently the Executive Director of the North Carolina Heritage Foundation and is the manager of the Southern Patriot Shop in Cayce, South Carolina.  His biography is posted at Sons of Confederate Veterans.

After the “War of Northern Aggression”, the south was “reconstructed” by the north, and so was much of the history from this period.  Winston Churchill is alleged to have said that “history is written by the victors”, however the truth eventually wins out.  Join us as Mr. Manning helps us understand the battle between blue and gray.

If you want to understand what caused the financial meltdown—and why none of the big-government solutions being tried today will work—Meltdown explains it all.  Join us for another “fun-filled evening” discussing America’s economic future.

Today’s callers: Ted/Virginia; Owen/Arizona; Dave/Michigan; Dave/New York; Michael/California; Mark/Georgia; Adam/Maryland

#470 – America’s Last Hope

Cohost: Richard Mack is the former sheriff of Graham County, Arizona, the author of several books, and a long-time crusader for freedom and individual rights.  His latest book is County Sheriff – America’s Last Hope which is available from his website: SheriffMack.com

Sheriff Mack’s newest book covers decades of research to prove once and for all that the sheriffs in this country are indeed the ultimate law authority in their respective jurisdictions.  The sheriff absolutely has the power and responsiblity to defend his citizens against all enemies, including those from our own Federal Government.  I am pleased to report that Sheriff Mack will be speaking in Winnsboro, Texas one week from today.

He was probably the largest gold and silver stockbroker in the world during that period. When he retired he had over 6,000 clients. His website is TheInternationalForecaster.com.

Mr. Chapman distributes a very popular financial newsletter.  Some of his recent subject titles are “America Has To Come To Grips With The Fact It Is Bankrupt” and “Now As The Much Greater Depression Progresses”.  Somehow, you just know this can’t be good news.
